#1. Flores
Flores is a located on Lake Petén Itzá and connected to land by a causeway, on the other side of which lie the twin towns Santa Elena and San Benito. It was on the island of flores that the last independent maya state held out against the spanish conquerors.
#2.Volcan Pacaya
Volcano Pacaya is a volcano located close to Antigua, and is an active volcano, last erupting on May, 27 2010. #3.Santa Catalina Arch
The Santa Catalina arch is located in Antigua, the used to be capital of guatemala, until 1773, where a massive earthquake decimated the city. In 1776, the once vibrant town was ordered abandoned. This arch is such a tourist attraction because it is the first thing you will see when you enter the city of Antigua. The city is also a large tourist attraction during the holy week, because aside from all the spanish architecture, cathedrals and palaces, there are parades, floats, and carpets of flowers lining the street.
#4.Lago de Atitlan
This lake is known for it's beauty, as demonstrated by the words of the english novelist Aldous Huxley, who stated it as the most beautiful lake in the world. The entrance to Lake Atitlán is the city of Pananajache, which offers many tourist attractions of it's own, such as opportunities for exploration, scuba diving and learning Spanish.
#5.Tikal
Tikal is perhaps the greatest tourist attraction in Guatemala due to its history, ancient wonders, and beauty. The name Tikal translates to ¨Place of Voices¨ and once had a population of a quarter million or more. Tikal is surrounded by a large wildlife preserve, home to monkeys, parrots, deer, macaws and other incredible species.
