June 30th, Army DayArmy Day is celebrated in Guatemala in remembrance of the soldiers that fought in the liberal revolution of 1871. August 15th, AssumptionAssumption day is a day celebrated because of the belief that God assumed the Virgin Mary into heaven after her death, and this day is celebrated by a large feast and fireworks.

September 15th, Independence DayIndependence day is celebrated in Guatemala to remember when Guatemala gained their independence from Spanish colonial rule on september 15, 1821. This holiday is celebrated by a large party, containing marching bands, whistling, a sea of blue and white flags and the national anthem.

October 20th, Revolution DaySimilar to the Guatemalan Army day, Revolution day commemorates a historic transfer of Guatemalan power. On this day people remember when Guatemala's dictator, Jorge Ubico, was overthrown. Music and fireworks mark the days celebration.

November 1st, All Saints DayAll Saints day is celebrated as a tradition to pay respect to those family members and loved ones who are deceased. This holiday is celebrated by a lively exhibition of remembrance filled with flowers, artistic decorations and food. The most unique part of this tradition is the Kite festival, a display of extravagant, colossal , brightly colored kites that locals say is a way to connect with the deceased.
