Spanish is the official language of Guatemala, about 60% of the populace speaks it as their main language. The other 40% speak Quiché, Mam, Pocomam, and Chol—all of the Mayan language family—and Carib, Kekchi, Garifuna, Cakchiquel, and Xinca.
